What does your role involve?

As a Business Support Officer, my role is to make sure our technical teams have the information and practical support they need to work as efficiently as possible. The quickest way to describe it is probably “herding cats”, because no two days are the same.

Common tasks include checking multiple email inboxes, preparing proposal documentation, sourcing company information and details of previous projects, preparing presentation materials, reviewing reports or letters, booking travel, preparing promotional brochures or flyers, and organizing catering.

The type of support required can change from one day to the next. Sometimes it’s entering invoice data for a large project, and sometimes it’s hours of back and forth on the phone chasing missing baggage thousands of kilometers away.

The variety keeps the role interesting, but the purpose remains consistent: helping colleagues get what they need to do their best work.

For me, Enhancing Society Together is more than a corporate slogan. It means embodying our values outside the workplace as well as within it.

It is about practicing what we preach and making choices that do not negatively affect other people or the planet. If we limit that purpose to working hours, we miss many opportunities to make a positive contribution.

Regardless of our role at Haskoning, we all have the option every day to contribute positively to the lives of others by making choices guided by integrity, even when no one is watching.

Regardless of our role, we all have opportunities every day to make a positive difference through the actions we take, even when no one is watching.
