Our approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI supports our people by improving quality, consistency and efficiency, and by unlocking data-driven solutions across areas such as engineering design optimisation, asset management, environmental and infrastructure planning. Human expertise and professional judgement remain central; AI augments our capabilities, not taking away our responsibility.
We apply a value-driven approach to AI. Every initiative starts with a clear business or client outcome, is prioritised on measurable impact, and is scaled only when it delivers real value. Where possible, we use proven, off the shelf solutions and build or customise AI only where it strengthens our differentiation.
Responsible use is fundamental. We aim to apply strong governance, robust data management, security and privacy safeguards, and of course comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the EU AI Act. Clear guidelines ensure AI is used safely, ethically, and responsibly, and fully aligned with our Code of Conduct.
AI adoption is a shared journey. We are investing in AI literacy, skills development and reusable solutions, supporting teams to adopt AI at a pace that fits their context and considering the environmental impact of AI.
