As an independent, steward- and employee-owned company, we can determine our own course, and lead in pursuit of our purpose of Enhancing Society Together. After positive financial results in recent years, ensuring the financial security of the business, we asked what more can we do? The Haskoning Innovation & Education Fund is our answer. It is a long-term commitment to invest in research, innovation and education that lead to sustainable solutions for societal challenges.
We do this because we believe it is crucial to contribute to research, especially now that universities are facing significant pressure due to upcoming budget cuts. Additionally, as a company, we aim to attract scientific talent. It helps to demonstrate to ambitious, future engineers that we are proactive and committed to supporting their endeavours.
The first act of the Fund will be a collaboration with the Delft University of Technology, one of our long-trusted partners. They will tap into our first Fund resources as they become available from our 2025 net profits, with the potential to support research at the university's newly created virtual Centre for Water Technology and Delta Resilience.
Delft University is currently (June 2025) preparing a research proposal based on the idea that innovation occurs at the intersection of fields of expertise. They combine knowledge on water technology, resource recovery, and delta resilience aiming to achieve in 10 years what we currently cannot achieve.
Delft University of Technology aims to launch the centre in September 2025.
We are collaborating closely to ensure the proposal has a global perspective and aims to contribute to the development of the next generation of professionals.
