BrITE Foundation
The BrITE Foundation is a charity fund set up and run by Haskoning’s employees.
Making a difference
Haskoning employees are committed to making a meaningful impact in the world. Through the BrITE Foundation, they volunteer their time, skills, or money to help.
BrITE funds small-scale charitable projects for both people and the planet, with each project suggested by a Haskoning colleague. The common thread among these initiatives is their positive effect on vulnerable individuals and efforts to enhance living environments.
Since its founding in 2015, BrITE has supported over 50 projects. The most recent ones are highlighted below.

Australia
Supporting disabled surfers
Suggested by one of our colleagues in Sydney, BrITE is donating 6,550 euros to the Disabled Surfers Association (DSA) to purchase colour-coded rash vests. DSA is organising surf activities for people with disabilities and these vests will be used as of February 2026 to identify participants, carers, volunteers, beach marshals and team leaders, and are critical for safety, coordination and sun protection.
Previously BrITE donated a beach access wheelchair and custom-designed surfboards. Our colleagues also regularly volunteer at the DSA. Copyright picture: Disabled Surfers Association
Indonesia
North Sumatra and Aceh Emergency Response
Suggested by colleagues in Jakarta, BrITE is donating 2,500 euros to support the emergency efforts to help the people in Aceh and North Sumatra after the flash floods end November 2025. Although the floodwaters have mostly gone down, a lot of people struggle to get clean water, food and roof over their head. The money is going to Save the Children Indonesia with an additional 1,000 euros coming from Haskoning Indonesia. Copyright picture: Save the Children Indonesia

Supporting the Participation Kitchen
In December 2025 we decided to help the Participation Kitchen with a donation of 10,000 euro to buy a new electric van to collect surplus food that will be used to prepare soup for the homeless and offer affordable meals for people who really need it – supporting a large group of people who live in poverty or struggle with loneliness. The Participation Kitchen operates in the greater The Hague region in the Netherlands. The suggestion to help them came from a colleague from our nearby Delft office. New library for rural junior high school
After storm damage, students at SMP Niukbaun, a rural junior high school in East Indonesia, lacked a proper library. With almost 12,000-euro BrITE funding, a new environmentally responsible library building is being constructed by Happy Heart Indonesia and equipped with reading materials and furniture. This project, suggested by one of our colleagues in Jakarta in October 2025, benefits students, teachers, and the wider community, promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading. Conserving seagrass
We’ve been supporting Project Seagrass - a global facing charity committed to conserving the threatened seagrass ecosystems through education, research and action. Seagrass meadows support thousands of marine species, produce oxygen, store carbon, stabilise coastlines and keep our oceans clean and clear. On the back of a 5,000-euro donation in end-2023 and a first donation of 10,000 euros a year earlier, they have been able to purchase a Seed Lab to house seeds and conduct research to see whether different meadows influence seed morphology and viability. So far (October 2025) Project Seagrass was able to plant more than 2 million seagrass seeds.
Worldwide
World Cleanup Day
On 20 September 2025, BrITE and YOUNG Haskoning partnered up again to support World Cleanup Day – an annual event aimed at creating awareness and combating the global litter problem. This was the 5th time Haskoning joined the event, and colleagues from 20 offices around the world rolled up their sleeves and made a difference in their local communities.

Vietnam
New Community Garden for SOS Children’s Village
In August 2025, we were thrilled to donate 7,000 euros to SOS Children’s Village in Ho Chi Minh City to help them build a community garden benefitting the 200+ children living there. The garden is meant to improve the wellbeing of these vulnerable children, enhance their environmental awareness and foster a sense of community.
The suggestion to support this project called ‘Future Seed’ came from one of our colleagues in Ho Chi Minh City. The garden is planned to open in October.
Ukraine
Supporting the transport of materials
Mid-2025, we supported the Dutch NGO called Dopomoha (meaning aid in Ukraine) by funding the transport of materials they collected to (re)build hospitals and classrooms in underground shelters, and provide emergency aid to the people in Ukraine. To transport these materials from the Netherlands to Ukraine, BrITE donated 3,000 euros. The suggestion to support them came from one of our colleagues in Zwolle who is helping this NGO.

Friendly wild bees find new home on fortresses
December 2024, we partnered with Dutch nature foundation Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht to help them restore Fort Rhijnauwen (photo) and Fort Ruigenhoek. New greenery will be added to provide a good habitat for the friendly wild bee that is threatened with extinction. The project will also contribute to the overall biodiversity as well as to the educational and recreational functions of the fortresses.
This collaboration originated from a suggestion made by one of our colleagues in the Amersfoort office that is close by these fortresses. We are supporting the foundation with 10,000 euros.
Australia
Coral larvae for the Great Barrier Reef
October 2024, we decided to support Australia’s Reef Restoration Foundation to massively increase the spawning of coral stock in mobile nurseries to add billions of fertilised coral larvae back to the Great Barrier Reef.
One of our Brisbane colleagues suggested we support them purchasing a special optics device that will help to mimic the wild environment where the coral will be taken from to achieve the best results. We donated 9,500 euros to assist with this.

Rewilding the Scottish Highlands
Put forward by our Edinburgh colleagues, we decided to support the Trees for Life charity in Scotland who are restoring a vital part of Scotland’s natural heritage by protecting and developing a living, thriving forest landscape where wildlife and people can flourish together. Not only did we donate 10,000 euros to support their wild seed collection project for enhancing the availability of more native trees, we also joined their seed collection day in the beautiful Glen Finglas in October 2024. During this event, 6.8kg of hawtorn berries were collected which could grow an estimated 11,000 hawtorn trees.
Philippines
Rice for typhoon struck village
August 2024, BrITE doubled the funds raised by Haskoning’s team in the Philippines to aid families in the coastal village of Pamarawan who had been hit by devastating typhoon floods. The team has been collaborating with this community for over a year through its nature-based flood protection project. After reaching out to the village leaders, it became clear there was an urgent need for rice. On 9 September, 1,450 kg rice was handed over to the villagers.

Middle East
Supporting the Red Cross and Red Crescent
June 2024, we donated 25,000 euros to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to support the victims of the war in Gaza. Whilst we normally support small-scale projects, we decided to make an exception here just as we did when we donated to UNHCR for the Ukrainian refugees, because we are keen to do what we can in this moment of severe need.
