Haskoning was appointed to help the client choose the ideal location. Every element of the production process was explored to understand the requirements, including utilities and logistics. This knowledge enabled the optimisation of the conceptual design to minimise operational costs while providing the flexibility and space to expand as needed.

Key considerations included the availability of sufficient energy supply and the need for flammable and hazardous gases, which involved including appropriate safety measures in the plans. For each possible brownfield location, environmental and building permit requirements were checked. The resulting feasibility study enabled the company to make an informed decision on the optimal location.

The solution

The new factory will be situated in the Eindhoven area enabling the manufacturer to strengthen its links with the university. It also gives the company access to talent from the university and local technology cluster to run and maintain operations.
