A global healthcare company set out to consolidate production in the Netherlands, requiring extensive site adaptations. Since 2007, Haskoning has supported this ambition through a long-term partnership at a strategic level. From 2011 onwards, on-site teams of 25–80 people have provided multi-disciplinary expertise, delivering engineering and consultancy across two major production sites. Alongside daily operations and regulatory change, projects have ranged from small adaptations to major programmes worth €60 million and more.
To streamline activities and comply with evolving regulations, the company needed significant modifications across production buildings, offices, laboratories, clean rooms and utility facilities. Drawing on multi-disciplinary expertise, Haskoning delivers around 50 projects per year. These include adapting clean rooms (up to BSL3 and Grade A), installing purified water systems, upgrading security, fire alarm and evacuation systems, improving sewerage and power systems, and ensuring HVAC meets dust collection and regulatory requirements.
Specialist in-house knowledge across GxP guidelines, environmental regulations, compliance, safety, contamination control and energy efficiency brings additional value to every project.
Through this partnership, Haskoning helps guide the client’s industrial development plan with strategic asset management services. The role spans the full lifecycle, from business case development and master planning through design, permitting, procurement and construction management to commissioning and handover. With in-depth site knowledge and a strong on-site presence, the team provides insight and value across many fields – ensuring continuity of production while supporting long-term strategic ambitions.
We work in partnership with our client on a strategic and operational level, assisting with issues as they arise to ensure production can continue.
