The challenge: meeting explosive market growth

Beauty and cosmetics consumption in south-east Asia is expanding rapidly. To respond, our client, a global cosmetics leader, required a massive new factory to increase production capacity while also meeting sustainability standards. The challenge was to deliver a state-of-the-art facility that could scale production quickly, integrate diverse functions such as production, packaging, warehousing and offices, and achieve leed silver certification.

The solution: integrated design and sustainable delivery

With a proven track record in the region and previous collaborations in China, haskoning was selected to design and manage the project. The existing building on the site was converted into a combined production and office facility, while new buildings were constructed for packaging and warehousing. The development also included entrance facilities, utility buildings, a wastewater treatment plant, and new roads and drainage. Throughout the process, we oversaw construction and safety and provided sustainability consultancy, ensuring the industrial plant met the requirements for leed silver certification.

The result: the client’s largest global factory

The completed site is now the largest factory in the company’s global portfolio. It has substantially increased production capacity to meet the fast-rising demand for beauty products in south-east Asia, while operating sustainably through its leed silver certification. The site brings together production, packaging, logistics and office functions in one integrated facility. Beyond boosting supply for a fast-growing market, the project reinforces the client’s commitment to sustainable, world-class production standards.
