What you will do as a Project Finance Accountant

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop and apply your financial expertise. You will work closely with project managers and finance colleagues to ensure the accuracy and quality of our project financial administration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of project financial administration and performing internal controls.
  • Managing the invoicing process and helping to optimise working capital positions across your project portfolio. You continuously look for opportunities to improve, simplify and accelerate processes.
  • Building strong relationships with finance colleagues and supporting project managers in their financial responsibilities, acting as a trusted finance business partner.
  • Supporting project control activities for basic projects, including monitoring project control alerts and collaborating with Project Controllers and Business Unit Controllers.
  • Contributing to process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for project managers on basic projects, proactively supporting them with financial matters such as project budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and work-in-progress (WIP) reviews.
  • Working as part of a team of finance professionals, with extensive on-the-job training, coaching and support from experienced colleagues.

The Finance team at Haskoning consists of more than 200 professionals and operates across multiple countries. The department is organised around two key areas of expertise: Business Control and Financial Control.

What you bring

With a solid understanding of financial accounting, control principles and related processes, you are able to apply your knowledge effectively in practice. You are accurate, proactive and take ownership of your work. You communicate clearly and build strong working relationships with project managers and other stakeholders.

In addition, you have:

  • A recently completed Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance & Control. Candidates with a background in Accounting or a related field, combined with relevant experience, are also encouraged to apply.
  • Basic knowledge of related disciplines such as invoicing, automation and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong English language skills, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage.

Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete an assessment. Sometimes, a third interview is also part of the process.
