Haskoning officially opened its new, sustainable office in the former Mining Faculty on the TU Delft Campus on June 19, in the presence of employees and the construction team.

The opening was performed by Marja van Bijsterveldt, Mayor of Delft, Tim van der Hagen, President and Rector Magnificus of the TU Delft, and Marije Hulshof, CEO of Haskoning.

The TU Delft Campus is a leading location for knowledge development and a breeding ground for young talent – the ideal environment in which to establish ourselves and work together on innovations that make the world a little better.

We have sustainably converted an old educational building and national monument into a modern office. An inspiring working environment in a building that is ready for the future, gas-free and with an A+++ energy label.

Marja van Bijsterveldt, Mayor of Delft: “We are very happy and proud that engineering firm Haskoning has chosen to establish itself in our city. Its arrival in Delft is of great value to the Delft economy and to our Delft innovation ecosystem. Haskoning has also renovated the old Mining Building, a precious Delft heritage site, in a wonderful way with an understanding of its historical value, for which we are very grateful. In addition, the company employs many nationalities. This fits in perfectly with our diverse city and inhabitants.”

Tim van der Hagen, President and Rector Magnificus of TU Delft: “It is great that Haskoning has come to Delft. We have a close bond as we’ve collaborated extensively for decades, exchanging people and knowledge. Now that we are literally neighbours, I expect even more successful joint innovations in areas such as climate change and water technology.”

Until 2007, the building served as the TU faculty building for Mining and Petroleum Engineering. Since the purchase in 2021, a major renovation has been carried out by multi technical service provider SPIE under the leadership of Haskoning, with the help of architect Braaksma & Roos and interior architect Fokkema & Partners, among others. The biggest change here is the covering of the courtyards with 600 solar panels. The renovated building is completely Paris Proof, which means that the building already meets the energy standard for 2050 as laid down in the Climate Agreement. During the renovation, a lot of attention was also paid to circularity, with an emphasis on reusing materials already in the building and also brought in from elsewhere. The new building has 750 workspaces.
