The team’s inclusion in the mission reflects Haskoning’s long term and significant presence in Indonesia. The company has been involved in groundbreaking projects for over five decades here and continues to work with public and private sector clients on projects and schemes that deliver a positive economic and social impact.

Deep roots in Indonesia

We are delighted to join this trade mission from a water and maritime perspective and are honoured to host the Dutch Vice Minister at one of our project sites. Our local knowledge, coupled with international experience, have helped us create deep roots in Indonesia where we are proud to contribute to create a more resilient and sustainable future for the country.

Project visit Kalibaru port

On Tuesday 17 June both Maritime and Water delegations will visit the Kalibaru site. The new Kalibaru port will consist of seven container terminals, with a total new capacity of 12.5 million TEU (measurement used to indicate the capacity of containers and the number of containers on ships) which will solve the current congestion at the Tanjung Priok port. This port is currently operating above its capacity of 7 million TEU.

This enormous project holds significant socio-economic importance for Indonesia. The current port is overwhelmed, making expansion essential. The construction of this large port terminal on newly created offshore land will boost employment in Jakarta.

Mitigating floods in Semarang and north Java

Recognising the flood risks along Java's north coast, particularly in a densely populated urban area like Semarang, Haskoning is currently in the design phase of a project focusing on flood mitigation and upgrading drainage systems to enhance the capacity of the existing infrastructure. Nature-based solutions can help here. Our experts are well-positioned on the subject, putting sustainability at the heart of land reclamation.

Round table meeting

During the mission the official delegation has met counterparts and other (government) officials to share successes of existing cooperation, as well as discussing how Dutch companies can further assist with challenges such as mitigating climate change and supporting the energy transition.

The round table meeting, with Indonesian Coordinating Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, HE Mr. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Vice Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Mr. Todotua Pasaribu and the President Director PT Haskoning Indonesia Mark van Zanten, took place on Monday, 16 June at the Shangri-La Jakarta hotel.
