We are delighted that three Haskoning nominations in the 2025 CN & NCE Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards have been shortlisted!

These annual awards celebrate the role models and organisations empowering women in construction and engineering in the UK and making the industry a better place to work.

Celebrating outstanding female contributions and diversity in the engineering sector

The Inspiring Women Awards are a great opportunity to showcase and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our colleagues, which is so important as we work to increase female representation and diversity in the engineering sector. We put forward a strong field of nominees and are delighted that Vic Boothby, Jay James, and our client Nicola Clay, have been shortlisted. We wish them the best of luck for the final!

The shortlisted Haskoning nominations:

Vic Boothby

Vic Boothby - Technical Excellence

The Technical Excellence category seeks to recognise those who are simply great in their specialist field.

Vic has been with Haskoning for ten years. She is a marine heritage consultant and her nomination in this category reflects her extensive understanding of the complexities of marine archaeology, her comprehensive grasp of the evolving legal and planning frameworks governing marine development and heritage, and her ability to bridge the gap between archaeology, marine geoscience, and the demands of offshore construction and engineering projects. Profound technical expertise, innovative problem-solving, collaboration and delivering meaningful impact are all hallmarks of her approach.
Jay James

Jay James – Rising Star - Contribution to Gender Diversity

This category is open to any inspirational early career person, not just women, who has gone above and beyond to promote gender diversity through their own work in the construction or engineering sectors.

Jay joined Haskoning three years ago. Alongside learning core transport consultancy skills, and quickly progressing from Graduate to Consultant grade, they have also made significant contributions to colleagues’ awareness of gender fluidity and non-binary perspectives. Their insights have also enabled the company to recognise and respect that non-binary identities bring valuable and different perspectives to many of the social challenges we find ourselves addressing as transport planners and engineers.
Nicola Clay

Nicola Clay - Inspirational Leader -
Client (The Crown Estate)

This category recognises women in leadership positions within client or public works organisations who have used their positions to inspire and engage the workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business.

Nicola is a client of Haskoning in her role as Head of Strategic Delivery and Operations at The Crown Estate. She embodies inspirational leadership through her visionary approach and consistent ability to drive impactful change across the UK's marine and coastal sectors over nearly three decades. Her career – which includes 10 years at our company - showcases a recurring pattern of identifying opportunities for growth and innovation, building collaborative teams, and delivering tangible results in complex environments.
The category winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 16 September.
