Haskoning’s team in Singapore welcomed CEO Marije Hulshof and Global Director of Water & Maritime, Jon Robinson, this week as they celebrated a milestone for Haskoning’s operations in the country. Since opening its Singapore office in 2010, Haskoning has seen its presence grow, along with its reputation as a market-leading consultancy and key partner for other firms operating in the region.

Speaking to the team, CEO Marije Hulshof said: "Singapore is one of the world’s most important ports and maritime centres, and its impressive rate of growth is expected to continue thanks to its strategic location and excellent reputation for efficiency and forward-thinking operations.

We are proud of the projects we are involved in that help support this growth and Singapore’s efforts to address the effects of climate change. We are looking forward to continuing to be part of this success over the years to come.

With experts in both water and maritime based in Singapore, Haskoning’s team is helping public and private bodies explore the full potential of the country’s port operations, whilst also working with the government to understand and plan for the significant challenges posed by climate change and associated sea level rises.

Melissa Charn, Associate Director, Business Consultancy, said: "The energy and ambition both within Singapore and across the region are matched by our commitment as a team to helping our clients achieve their goals. We’ve been involved in projects that have made significant contributions to Singapore’s economic growth. Alongside the thriving economy, the country is also taking a proactive and far-sighted approach to climate change mitigation. We are proud to be working with the government to build resilience for residents and businesses whilst also helping protect natural resources and the environment.”

Haskoning has been involved in some of the world's leading projects that Singapore has already initiated, including the country’s first use of the polder method for land reclamation on the island of Pulau Tekong. Currently, the team is supporting key projects for the south-east and north-west coastal areas, as well as a feasibility study for coastal barriers.

The team’s port and maritime consultants recently completed a major project for the Singapore Government, which saw Haskoning deliver a detailed study of the port ecosystem and make recommendations on how operators could optimise efficiency and productivity, significantly reduce emissions and meet sustainability targets. The project also included a requirement to benchmark initiatives against international standards, something the team was able to draw on Haskoning’s global network to deliver.

Haskoning’s long history and global presence significantly contribute to the work delivered in Singapore and across the region. The company’s Dutch roots provide over a century of insights into water management, which the team combines with current experience in water and maritime projects from across the globe. With both consultancy and technical engineering experts based in Singapore, and with support from other regional offices, Haskoning is ideally placed to translate global innovation and best practices into achievable concepts and technical designs that are appropriate to the local context.

Haskoning’s office in Singapore also offers services to the industry and building sector, with experts supporting projects for major industrial clients throughout the region.

Daniel Martens, Associate Director, Water Singapore, added: "We are helping our clients push boundaries and maintain Singapore’s well-deserved reputation as a global leader in both maritime operations and climate change preparedness."
