The IVORY consortium is coordinated by TU Delft and comprises four universities (Delft, Hasselt, Athens, and Zagreb) and eight European companies which are active in, among others, the IT sector and the automotive industry. In April 2023, IVORY was awarded a
Marie Curie grant from MSCA Doctoral Networks.
The aim of IVORY is to develop a new framework for the integration of AI in road safety research, and to train a new generation of researchers in the field. The consortium’s ambition is to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 (halving the number of road fatalities by 2030) and the European Union's 'Vision Zero' strategy (eliminating road fatalities by 2050).
During the four-year research programme, the IVORY consortium will train 15 PhD candidates in the use of new, responsible AI applications for road user assistance and infrastructure safety management. Three of the researchers will join Royal HaskoningDHV. IVORY will also form a sustainable learning and networking platform to disseminate research findings.
