What will you do

  • Lead the hydraulic engineering team and review/update designs for storm water drainage networks, water supply systems and sewerage systems for external infrastructure projects in townships, municipalities and cities.
  • Carry out hydraulic analysis, calculations, modelling in 1D and 2D and engineering for storm water drainage, water supply and sewer systems using WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, MIKE, SWMM, EPANet, HEC-RAS, GIS, SWAT, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks and Civil 3D.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities and detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare tender specifications, tender documents and drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and drawings, ensuring quality deliverables in line with client standards.
  • Interact with clients, present design solutions effectively, and build lasting positive client relationships.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time by the Reporting Manager, Line Manager, ADAG or DAG.

What you bring

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in hydraulic engineering and infrastructure design.
  • Strong knowledge of 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling, model calibration, hydraulics and hydrology for stormwater management/networks, site drainage, sewerage collection and disposal.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modelling and analysis/design software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, MIKE, SWMM, EPANet, HEC-RAS, GIS, SWAT, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks and Civil 3D.
  • Good technical report writing skills and ability to handle and manage large data sets for analysis
  • Ability to analyse, assess and evaluate project-related issues and complexities.
  • Ability to interact with clients, present design solutions effectively, and build lasting positive client relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to adopt workflows, and commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Professional communication skills, flexible attitude towards varied assignments, and a proactive approach to delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
