What will you do

 

  • Review and recommend approval of the EPC Contractor's HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements, emergency response plans, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual HSE requirements, statutory regulations, labour laws, permit conditions, ISO 45001, and applicable safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and site surveillance to identify hazards and ensure effective implementation of safety controls.
  • Review and verify implementation of HIRA, JSA, PTW systems, and other risk management processes.
  • Monitor safety performance during high-risk construction activities such as excavation, working at height, lifting operations, confined space entry, electrical works, hot works, testing, and commissioning.
  • Review incidents, near misses, non-conformities, and CAPA reports, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Participate in incident investigations and verify implementation of preventive measures.
  • Monitor the competency and effectiveness of Contractor HSE personnel, training programs, toolbox talks, and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Track HSE performance indicators, audit findings, and compliance trends, and prepare periodic HSE reports for the Client and PMC.
  • Participate in HSE coordination meetings and provide recommendations to improve safety performance and safety culture.
  • Monitor emergency preparedness, evacuation arrangements, safety equipment, and emergency response drills.
  • Advise the Client on significant safety risks and recommend corrective actions, including suspension of unsafe activities when required.

What you bring

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial Safety, or equivalent).
  • Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification preferred.
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor certification desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of HSE experience in infrastructure, utility, industrial, or EPC projects.
  • Experience in roads, water supply, sewerage, drainage, utility, industrial, or building construction projects.
  • Strong expertise in HSE audits, risk assessments (HIRA/JSA), incident investigations, contractor safety management, and CAPA systems.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO 45001, Indian statutory safety regulations, and World Bank/IFC EHS Guidelines.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills in English and Hindi.
