We are seeking a driven, innovative, and highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer (with about 2 to 5 years’ experience in design / consultancy firms) to join our growing Maritime Vietnam Advisory Group at our Ho Chi Minh office, Vietnam. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of both local and international projects.

What will you do

  • Support and undertake geotechnical analysis and design, including settlement, ground improvement, slope stability, shallow and deep foundation design analysis, etc.
  • Support and prepare soil interpretative reports based on factual soil data
  • Support and prepare specifications and design criteria for geotechnical surveys, in-situ and laboratory testing, or geotechnical works
  • Coordinate and supervise site and laboratory geotechnical surveys when required
  • Communicate with senior experts within the company
  • Coach and guide junior engineers
  • Coordinate and support other activities of the Maritime Vietnam Advisory Group as reasonably required
  • Manage the schedule and quality of geotechnical deliverables within the project, in accordance with project requirements
  • Participate in meetings with clients, third parties, and contractors as per project requirements
  • Report directly to the Team Leader for day-to-day operations, personal development, and any other support that may be needed
  • Report to project leaders and the project and/or technical manager as per project requirements

As our newly appointed Geotechnical Engineer, you will join a team of over 70 maritime engineers based in our Ho Chi Minh office, Vietnam.

What you bring

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering
  • Sound technical understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design
  • About 2 to 5 years’ experience in geotechnical analysis and design, working to both international and local standards (such as British Standards, Eurocodes, TCVN, etc.)
  • Knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical investigation, laboratory testing, and geotechnical interpretation, including site management and supervision skills
  • Knowledge and practical experience with civil/geotechnical software: GeoStudio, D-series, Plaxis, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills • A strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to perform well under time pressure
  • A passion to learn and grow
  • Confidence in communicating in both English and Vietnamese, written and verbal

Preferred requirements:

  • MSc or PhD degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Knowledge and practical experience in seismic analysis and design
  • Knowledge and practical experience in geological risk and geotechnical hazards
  • Knowledge and practical experience with geological/geotechnical software: OpenGround and Leapfrog
  • Knowledge and practical experience in script writing: VBA, Python, MATLAB, etc.
  • Experience presenting to clients or large audiences
