Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a driven, innovative, and highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Maritime Vietnam Advisory Group at our Ho Chi Minh City office. This vacancy is open to local candidates only.

The successful candidate will work within a growing geotechnical team comprising engineers at various stages of their careers. They will contribute to the delivery of both local and international projects, including, but not limited to, berth structures, wharves, jetties, breakwaters, retaining walls, reclamation, and soil improvement projects.

What will you do

• Support and prepare specifications and design criteria for geotechnical surveys, in-situ and laboratory testing, or geotechnical works.
• Coordinate and supervise site and laboratory geotechnical surveys when required.
• Support and prepare soil interpretative reports based on factual soil data.
• Support and undertake geotechnical design and analysis.
• Perform other tasks when required.

As our newly appointed Geotechnical Engineer, you will join a team of over 70 maritime engineers based in our Ho Chi Minh City office, Vietnam.

What you bring

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering.
• Sound technical understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design.
• Knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical investigation.
• Knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical design and analysis.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• A strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to perform well under time pressure.
• A passion to learn and grow.
• Confidence in communicating in both English and Vietnamese, written and verbal.

Desirable requirements:

• Knowledge and practical experience in seismic analysis and design.
• Knowledge and practical experience in geological risk and geotechnical hazards.
• Knowledge and practical experience with geological/geotechnical software: OpenGround, GeoStudio, D-series, Plaxis, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
• Knowledge and practical experience in programming: VBA, Python, MATLAB, etc.
