Design Manager (MCF/ Data Centres)

Due to the continued expansion of our activities in Belgium, we are looking for a Design Manager. You will join the existing Plant Engineering team based in our Destelbergen office and collaborate with colleagues in Belgium and across our international MCF organisation on challenging data centre projects for both national and international clients. Within this team, we are actively building an MCF hub in Belgium, where you will contribute to design projects delivered in close collaboration with our international offices. In this role, you will also play a key coordinating role for the Belgian market and be closely involved in supporting the execution phase of projects for our clients.

What you do as Design Manager (MCF/ Data Centres)

You are responsible for translating complex client requirements into high-quality and feasible designs. In doing so, you make use of modern 3D design tools to deliver detailed, innovative and high-quality solutions for our MCF projects, often in close collaboration with our international teams within the MCF organisation.

As a Design Manager, your responsibilities include:

• Managing the scope of work, the design budget and contract documentation for each project;
• Preparing, monitoring and updating the design schedule, and efficiently allocating tasks within the team;
• Coordinating design activities between the Belgian team and international project teams, playing a connecting role within the MCF hub;
• Coordinating and optimising designs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external parties;
• Leading, reviewing and challenging design decisions and design changes;
• Developing and convincingly communicating innovative design concepts to clients and project teams;
• Supporting and aligning the execution phase, acting as a technical point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.

As our new Design Manager, you will become part of the Mission Critical Facilities team that we are actively building as an MCF hub in Belgium. From this hub, you will work closely with our international MCF teams and make an active contribution to both design and execution projects. You will have a high degree of freedom to apply your expertise in challenging projects, while also playing a connecting role between the Belgian team, international colleagues and our clients. Within dedicated multidisciplinary teams, we deliver excellent results, processes and collaborations.

What you bring

You are a results-driven and proactive Design Manager with a strong focus on collaboration and quality. You feel at home in an international and technically complex project environment and can effectively lead design teams within tight schedules and budgets.

You also recognise yourself in the following profile:

• You hold a master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical discipline;
• You have at least 5 years of experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary design and engineering projects, preferably within data centres, industrial buildings or other complex built environments;
• You have proven experience in leading design teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, such as engineers, consultants, contractors and clients;
• You are familiar with digital and automated design and engineering processes, including 3D design and BIM environments (such as BIM360);
• You have a solid understanding of applicable standards, regulations and working methods within the design and construction sector and understand the operational interests of clients;
• You communicate clearly and convincingly with both colleagues and clients and are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a strong advantage.
