As a Computational Designer at Haskoning, you will support the development and implementation of datadriven and automated design solutions for building engineering. In this role, you contribute to optimizing engineering processes and enabling better decisionmaking on complex projects, with a strong focus on data centres and missioncritical facilities. 

What you will do as Computational Designer (AEC)

As a Computational Designer (AEC) at Haskoning, you focus on developing and implementing datadriven and automated design solutions for building engineering. You play a key role in integrating digital workflows, optimizing engineering processes, and supporting informed decisionmaking on complex, multidisciplinary projects, with a strong emphasis on data centres and missioncritical facilities. 

 

  • Develop and apply computational and parametric design solutions for complex building and infrastructure projects 
  • Lead and support datadriven and design optimization workflows to improve engineering performance and outcomes 
  • Prototype, integrate, and scale digital tools across disciplines such as architecture, MEP, and structural engineering 
  • Automate engineering and design processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability 
  • Perform spatial data analysis and translate data, simulations, and visualizations into actionable insights for project teams and stakeholders

As our new Computational Designer (AEC), you will become part of an international digital engineering and computational design team, based in Málaga, Spain. This team focuses on developing and applying datadriven, parametric, and automated design solutions within the AEC domain. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams (including architecture, MEP, and structural engineering) on complex international projects, with a strong focus on data centres and other missioncritical facilities. Together, the team drives innovation in digital workflows and supports engineering teams with smart, integrated design solutions. 

What you bring

You have a solid technical background in the AEC industry and experience working on complex, multidisciplinary projects. You are able to translate data and analysis into actionable design insights and understand how digital tools can be integrated into engineering processes to improve outcomes. Additionally, you bring:  

  • degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, providing the necessary technical foundation 
  • 5+ years of experience in the AEC industry, with exposure to complex building or infrastructure projects 
  • Proven expertise in parametric design, including Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, to develop and manage computational design solutions 
  • Experience with BIM workflows, such as Dynamo and Rhino.Inside, enabling integration between computational design and BIM environments 
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C#, or similar), required for automation, data handling, and tool development 
  • Professional proficiency in English (required), as you will work in international, multidisciplinary project teams and communicate with stakeholders across countries 

Nice‑to‑have experience such as Revit API, optimization techniques, simulation, or digital twins is considered a strong plus in supporting advanced, data‑driven design workflows.
