However, because it is a broad field of work, you can see it as your own search within the company for the best for your development. This is because you can direct the type of projects you find interesting. You can also switch regarding your roles in those projects."

A new challenge

"The nice thing about being able to develop in this way is that I was given the opportunity to be a team leader. Besides still focusing on projects in this role, I also focus on my team. It is great to see how the team members grow and how I can play a role in this. I also put the smooth running of processes first, along with people satisfaction and job satisfaction! After ten years of consultancy, it is exciting to have a new profession that has more to do with leadership and managing a young and dynamic team. And the great thing is that you are not tied to anything. If, for example, I would like to return to consultancy completely, I can do that too."

Making an impact with the energy transition

For example, Bastian works on various projects related to these essential tasks: "I am involved in many ways in important projects such as energy transition. For example, I'm looking at hydrogen import strategies for the Port of Rotterdam Authority. In another project, we help developers of electrolysers with the whole process of arriving at a licensable concept."

"The developments are going so fast; new things always come along. As a result, a lot still needs to be discovered within this field, and new combinations of disciplines are always coming together to brainstorm and discuss issues. This keeps the profession dynamic, and learning new things daily is cool. This is the most fun anyway! As long as you are eager to learn, open to new ideas and inventive, you are definitely in your place here."

A true network organisation

Bastian appreciates this enormously: "From the moment I started until now, I still really appreciate our very open culture. Everyone is driven to deliver good results and arrive at interesting insights together. For instance, via projects, events and knowledge sessions, you can do much networking. Then you come across many different colleagues, each with different expertise. For instance, one type of colleague may be more into project management and another more into the content of a theme. Another colleague might focus on customer communication, for example. This is great fun to experience and, at the same time, useful and instructive!"

"We have an active energy transition group in which we share news items to keep each other informed. I also visit various events with colleagues where I learn about new developments. This is also definitely encouraged in the organisation!"
