Digital twins: where physical meets digital l Haskoning

What are digital twins?

Digital twins are dynamic virtual representations of your physical assets, processes or systems. They allow you to better understand – and better interact with – our increasingly complex, fast-paced and data-driven world.

Digital twins have the potential to radically transform the way we think and operate as a society – providing the insight and agility needed to turn reactive decision-making into proactive problem-solving.

Using digital twins, you can more easily manage and contextualise the vast amount of data your organisation generates, and you can convert that data into predictions that inform and guide decision-making. Therefore, digital twins are a valuable tool for defining digital transformation roadmaps and avoiding execution roadblocks.

How digital twins help overcome digital transformation challenges

People

Transcend internal siloes – digital twins enable collaboration and align people across functions from IT to Strategy to Operations to Finance, supporting broader digital transformation processes
Gain a single source of truth – they connect disparate data and information across systems, product/service lifecycles and supply chains to provide holistic and actionable insight
Enable cultural change – digital twins are engaging and interactive, facilitating digital transformation change management and supporting the adoption of new ways of working
Capture knowledge – from across the organisation, helping to plug skills gaps and support workforce planning

Risk & cost management

De-risk investment and continuous improvement decisions – gain confidence you’re deploying the right solutions at the right time within the capital cycle or for continuous improvement
Validate business cases – so you know investments will deliver the expected return
Reduce costs – by using digital twins as a way to drive a holistic approach to data and information management, so you can turn many more use cases into feasible, value-adding solutions

Technology

Make data-driven decisions – in minutes and hours instead of weeks and months, whether it’s about deploying digital solutions, enabling automation or streamlining processes
Accelerate innovation – digital twins help streamline the process of designing and deploying digital solutions and automation because you have an evidence-based way to test ideas and understand their real-world impact
Enable interoperability and end-to-end thinking – your digital twin ecosystem can span CapEx to OpEx, unlocking more value from data and systems and helping you adopt modern standards
Future-proof digital investments – get digital Twinn by Haskoninging right, and you have a backbone for the many cloud computing, AI, machine learning, data analytics, IoT and Industry 4.0 solutions you’re considering, now and in the future
